I was with a gang of hippies then and we were hitchhiking from Benares to Nepal. When we reached Belgang, on the border between India and Nepal, we found accommodation at a Government Inn. There were so many travellers - 30 in all. It was about 12pm in the night. A roaring sound I heard. Then I find two gigantic motor bikes came straight into our place. There were 4 passengers – 2 men and 2 girls.

I have not seen such a big motor bike before, so I am very much interested. After some time, I went over to one of the men and just asked about the motor bike.

They told me of the latest motor bike from Germany.

They also were coming from Afghanistan to Nepal, then they will come to India. It was a new feature I had seen of these. The 2 girls with them were very beautiful. Perhaps around the age of 20. I talk a very little with those peoples and then I went to bed.

This is the first time I met Emmie there because one of the 2 girls was Emmie. As of that time I did not know her. Yet 3 years later, after when we met in the Baul’s festival in Kenduli, we became known very well at that time. Bill was with her and we spent at least 4 months as they both were staying with me in my house in Krishnanagar and we became very good friends. Then I realised that this girl, the same girl and I met on the way to Nepal that time. She is Emmie - Erremina Magaretha Sloof and then after 46 years at least we still have that friendship.
